Working with Children 0-3 years

This HiMATS online self study course draws on current best practice guidelines and is intended to help you develop your knowledge and skills in promoting the development of children aged 0-3 years through the provision of quality play opportunities and stimulating and nurturing environments.

  • On completion of all course work except the final assignment you will be awarded the CPD certificate.
  • On successful completion of all course work and final assignment you will be awarded the SQA HNC Unit: Working with Children 0-3 years. (8 SCQF credits at level 7) and the CPD certificate.

Introduction to dyslexia and inclusive practice – Free online modules

Introduction to dyslexia and inclusive practice is the first of three free online modules developed in response to recommendations 1 and 2 of the 2014 Education Scotland review Making Sense: Education for Children and Young People with Dyslexia in Scotland. Developed to complement the 2015 Education Scotland Route Map for Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice, the modules aim to provide quality professional development, improve outcomes for dyslexia learners, improve early identification and support effective and equitable post school transition.

Process of Play

This online self-study course leads to the SQA NC unit: Process of Play. Completion provides a strong foundation for commencing the SVQ level 2 and 3 Playwork or Social Services (Children and Young People), which are the required qualifications for Support Worker and Practitioner registration with SSSC. The course is also an ideal CPD activity for practitioners who want to find out more about children’s play in out-of-school & wrap-around-care provision.
