Summer and beyond
With funding from the Scottish Government to support the wellbeing of very young children and their families with a particular focus on early speech and language acquisition, Early Years Scotland and Care and Learning Alliance have teamed up to create an exciting programme of upcoming events for parents, baby and toddlers:
Get ready for the summer of play promotion and post-summer support.
These are free 45 minute online sessions for parents as we run up to the summer holidays to support you with ideas and activities. We recognise the summer holidays can be difficult and costly for many families. These sessions will support you with access to experienced early years practitioners who can offer simple resources, ideas, and confidence-building. No cost or very low-cost ideas will be demonstrated along with top tips for parents and an opportunity to ask one of our experienced staff anything about play and your child’s development. To book your place on any of the sessions – see link below.
Summer holiday play events near you
During the Summer Holiday’s, look out for our free open play sessions across Scotland, near you. These community play events will focus on under 5s, however older siblings are also welcome to attend for fun family play.
Attendees at each session who have signed up in advance will also get a ‘play pack’ of resources along with top tips and heuristic play ideas and a localised set of info about other support and activities in your area.

Parent, baby and toddler group start up support
Following on from last year’s offer of start up grants from the Scottish Government to support Parent, baby and toddler groups open after COVID lockdowns, there is now a small pot of further funding for up to 20 groups that did not apply for the funding last year to access the £500 start-up or re-start funding and related resources and support (ongoing throughout the duration of the grant process).
