PVG Scheme
The Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG Scheme) replaces the Disclosure system and applies to statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations that provide services, activities and amenities for children and protected adults.
From 28 February 2011 all new staff employed to carry out regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scotland Act 2007 (the 2007 Act) were required to become members of the PVG Scheme. (Including existing employees who move post).
From 29 October 2012 employers were able to commence Retrospective Checking of all existing staff who are eligible for membership for the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Employers have 3 years to bring all existing workers who are undertaking regulated work into the PVG Scheme.
The process of checking existing workers and bringing them into the PVG Scheme is known as ‘Retrospective Checking’.
