Workshops to Raise Awareness (WRAP) of PREVENT

Whilst this is not mandatory for training for third and private sector, places may be available on request for the training, dates as below.

Norma Ruettimann, Training Development Manager

Highland Council Care and Learning Service have arranged a series of workshops to raise awareness across the Service of PREVENT.

PREVENT is part of the Government CONTEST strategy, relating to counter-terrorism.  PREVENT specifically looks at safeguarding people and communities from the threat of terrorism, and aims to raise awareness of the early signs and indicators of risk and vulnerability in relation to radicalisation. We will be looking at this from a children, young people and families perspective.

It is mandatory for staff within the Highland Council to have an awareness of PREVENT and it is important that at least one key member of staff within each team/school/unit receives this training.  Very small schools might consider identifying one colleague from within the ASG, and the Family Teams should consider representatives (at least) across each function.
