Culbokie Fun Club – a new name & a very good Care Inspectorate report!

culbokie-fun-club-handbook-thumbThe children and parents at Culbokie Badgers (Out of School Club) had a vote before the Christmas holidays and decided to change the name of the club to ‘Culbokie Fun Club’ because, as the child who suggested the name said, ‘That’s what we have here – fun!’

The children have put together a welcome pack for children – why should the parents have all the information? You can also read their January newsletter here.

We also had a visit from the Care Inspectorate in November 2014; the report has now been published and the club was awarded Grade 5s (Very Good) for all aspects of the service. You can download it here.

Some of the things picked out by the Inspector were:

  • very good relationships with children, parents and carers
  • staff motivation to provide a service of a high standard supportive and caring staff
  • the relaxed and positive atmosphere in the club
  • children were very at ease with the staff and talked about how much fun they had
  • the children were given opportunities to make choices about their activities, their preferences were taken into account and they described how staff listened to their ideas and where possible actioned them.
  • very good storage facilities and resources which were very well organised and allowed the children to safely and independently select the resources they wanted

I would like to thank the staff for all their hard work in making the club such a fun place to be for everyone.
