What we do

We cater for children from P1 up to the age of 14, coming from Knockbreck and Craighill Primary Schools in Tain. The club is child-led where children are encouraged to engage in free play activities indoors and outdoors. These can range from board games, baking, arts and crafts, tree climbing, den making, fire bowl activities and activities in the local community.

A warm welcome back to all our children and families. An extra big hello and welcome to our new children and families. We hope you will soon feel at home with us. After an amazing summer, let’s hope we can enjoy a few more good weather days and all the outside play with the extra fun that it brings. This term we are going to be focusing on equality and all we need to achieve this within our club, communities and families. We will keep you up to date with all our activities in our blogs and newsletters. Have a great term.

Hello everyone, hope you are all keeping well. It is really hard to believe we are halfway through the term. We have some very good news. Last Monday our third member of staff at TRACC SAC joined us, Diana.

Already Diana is making a difference to our club and we are absolutely delighted to have her as part of our team, we hope she will be very happy with us.

On Tuesday we are all taking part in ‘Tuesday Tain Tidy Up’.

This is being run by Tain Task Force who are a group responsible for all our hanging baskets and gardens. They have noticed that the high street, roads, businesses and houses in Tain have weeds growing outside which can make the environment look a little messy. So on Tuesday, they are asking people in Tain to weed outside their property or businesses. We will be tidying up outside TRACC and the old age pensioner’s bungalows which are across the road from TRACC. The task force is hoping this will be a monthly event and something that not only benefits the wider community but also brings the community together.

We have lots of activities to pack into the last few weeks including a party 🥳.

One activity the children are looking forward to is our own Grand Prix. We have now got three go- karts and the children are organising a track and running category. –

Just before we go can we ask that parents and carers check with us their details so we can update our records for August with any changes?

Hello from school-aged childcare at TRACC.

We have had a busy term and cannot believe we have only one week until the holidays. With the weather getting better and the afternoons being lighter we have been able to take advantage to be outside. We have had great fun on a go-cart after the children did their own risk assessment to keep themselves and others safe while using it.

Obviously, we had to do pancakes on pancake day especially as we can now have little helpers back in the kitchen. We have been working on our SHANARRI and nurturing board now that parents can finally get involved 🤸‍♀️.

Welcome to TRACC osc blog.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the brighter mornings, lighter evenings and slightly warmer weather.

For the last few weeks, we have been busy working on children’s mental health and wellbeing. Particularly promoting what the children can do for themselves and peers to manage their own mental health. We have a feels thermometer that the children use to self-assess how they are feeling when they come into the club and during their time at the setting.

This gives staff a chance to support any children who are needing some extra time to reduce the stress they are experiencing.

We also reviewed the covid changes and what this means to the children and the setting and how this affects us all. Children had written their own covid club rules which they revised. Another tool the children use is the what can I do wheel. This gives strategies for the children to try to resolve issues. This allows the children to become more resilient, feel empowered, become more independent and leads to life management skills which in the long term helps their mental health and wellbeing awareness. This rest of this month we will be planning with the children Easter activities and enjoying more time outside.
