Our vision, values and aims
Our mission is to be child-centred, offering a nurturing and caring environment that provides appropriate spaces to play and learn through fun. We aspire to equip children with the values, knowledge, attitude, capability and skills to contribute effectively to the local and wider community as active citizens.
Our Aims:
- We will provide a challenging, stimulating learning environment and provision, indoors and outdoors, which encourages every child to be safe, healthy, achieving, nurtured, active, respected, responsible and included.
- To actively work together in partnership with other professional agencies, parents and carers to provide a quality service underpinned by the Curriculum for Excellence, Birth to Three, Building the Ambition, evaluating provision using HGIEOL and the National Care Standards.
- Identify and provide relevant training for staff as part of an ethos of continuous improvement in which staff at all levels share the responsibility to ensure the successes and achievements for children as well as meeting the requirements of the SSSC
- To continue to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of the ELCC for children, parents and staff and to engage the wider community as a continuation of the Eco School Green Flag process and Global awareness.
- To provide an increasing number of ‘Forest School’ sessions’ promoting cross-curricular learning and linking with agencies and parents in line with current best practice guidance; ‘My World Outdoors’ and ‘Out to Play’.
- To provide effective support for children during transition from home to ELCC and ELCC to school from 2 years onwards to reach primary school age,
- To consult with parents, staff and Highland Council to plan and provide a smooth transition to 1140 hours a year for every child in 2020 -21.
