Mentoring

CALA-Mentoring-LogoDuring our Annual CALA Conference 2015 we announced the launch of our new and exciting mentoring programme that has been designed for newly appointed or promoted childcare practitioners, workers within CALA Staffbank and CALA Childminders.

The CALA mentoring programme aims to enhance professional development, provide a confident and competent workforce and promote integrated working and strengthen leadership.

Effective Mentoring

mentoring-training-2015.6Effective mentoring can maximise the success of managers embarking on Childhood Practice learning. It can also support and encourage managers to lead and improve practice in their workplace. Several CALA staff members have undertaken mentoring or have been mentees themselves in the past.

Many ingredients of the mentoring framework (nurturing, encouraging, supporting, listening) are already included in CALA’s established use of Support and Supervision (S&S) and we have now launched our complementary mentoring programme to sit alongside S&S.

In June 2015 14 CALA staff members attended training delivered by Morag Kerr of Interchange.
