Keeping Children Safe

Every child in Highland is protected and safe from harm.

To consistently implement Highland policies and procedures in child protection through supporting, training, maintaining and developing strong communication within voluntary sector agencies and other childcare organisations.

KCSBWChildren have the right to be protected from abuse and harm at all times and in all situations. Child Protection is the responsibility of every adult who has involvement with children.

Neglected and abused children are in our society, in every walk of life. As adults, we have a responsibility to help children in need. We have the ability to improve a child’s future and can make a difference by intervening.

At Keeping Children Safe we want to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect. We need people to understand their role, to take action and help prevent children suffering.

We provide training giving help and guidance on what signs to look out for, the different types of abuse and neglect, what to do if you suspect a child is at risk of harm and what will happen next.

Keeping Children Safe is operated from an office in Inverness, covering the Highland Area.

For information on the Child Protection training on offer, please visit the training page.

Some clubs or associations may not be aware that they have a responsibility or need to be trained. Please pass this information on – the more people who are aware of child protection issues and how to respond – the safer Highland’s children will be.

Everyone working with children and young people in the Highlands should be working to the latest Highland Practice Model Guidance (GIRFEC).

We are happy to talk to any organisation who is unsure about what is needed, or what to do next.
