Graduation day for Fiona & Michele – congratulations!
A huge well done, from everyone at CALA, to Fiona Morrison and Michele Garner who both graduated last week with their BA in Childhood Practice. Doing a degree whilst still working is not easy and both girls are to be congratulated on their big achievement. Their families must have been very proud of them on the day.
Michele particularly enjoyed her project with Broadford Out of School Club (Broadford Chipmunks) as well as one of her final year modules, Managing a Childhood Practice Workplace Project, during which she enlisted the help of CALA managers, senior playworkers and playworkers. She had a great response from them and she’d like to thank everyone who participated, as well as Fiona Morrison and Donalda Johnston, both of whom supported her by listening and offering advice when she needed it.
Fiona would like to thank Michele, Donalda, and Ashley Mackay, all of whom helped to keep her motivated, as well as her husband and family who were there to help when she was flagging. Her most rewarding courses were the leadership and management modules which she found really helped her to reflect on the skills she uses within the role to support her staff teams. After taking some time out she may even return to Further Education!
