Early Years success in Nairn

‘Bodach rocais le mapa’ – Success for Croileagan!

Last term the children at Croileagan Inbhir Narainn, one of CALA’s managed early years centres, took part in the ‘Keeping Nairnshire Colourful’ competition when they had to design a Bodach-rocais (scarecrow) with an orienteering theme. We consulted the children who gave their ideas on how to make a scarecrow – what he would need to take orienteering and of course what they wanted to call him – Charlie.

Charlie would certainly need a rucksack, and inside he had a walkie-talkie, a mobile phone, suncream (don’t you just love children’s optimism!), a compass, a packed lunch, a bottle of water and most importantly he had to go le mapa (with a map)!

Charlie’s good looks charmed the judges at the Nairn Farmers Show where he was awarded third prize.

Well done to all who took part!
