The Commission for Childcare Reform has today published its final report. Over the past 15 months they have been speaking to experts, childcare providers, politicians and parents in order to examine how childcare in Scotland may be reformed to better suit the needs of children and their families.

Care and Learning Alliance (CALA) has welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the work of the Commission for Childcare Reform. We have been eagerly awaiting the final report and are pleased to see that flexibility and community engagement are key themes but never at the expense of quality.

We believe passionately that working with our local communities and co-producing solutions to meet families needs is the way ahead. There are many challenges presented and we believe many more discussions are to be had as we all digest the recommendations and the impact these may have. Ignoring the issues, however, is not an option and we will engage in the debate with enthusiasm.
