Childcare Reform – Inverness Conversation
Thanks to all the parents who came along last night to our ‘Inverness Conversation’ with Maggie Tierney, Secretary to the Commission for Childcare Reform, and Lesley Warren, Assistant Policy Officer with Children in Scotland. You can find out more about the Commission on their website.
The Commission for Childcare Reform was set up in March of this year to investigate how to reform the childcare sector in order to make it better serve children, families and businesses.
At the ‘Inverness Conversation’ there were sixteen in attendance. Parents talked candidly about various issues including their need for quality affordable childcare, the challenges for shift workers in arranging childcare, and the difficulties around schools arranging in-service days at short notice.
From the conversations taking place during the evening, it was obvious that cost and flexibility seems to be the top priorities for the Commission to take on board.
