My name’s David Sharkey and this week I began my new role as CALA’s Communications and Website Coordinator. I’m delighted to be here and full of excitement and enthusiasm for how I can help improve CALA’s online presence.
For seven years I was in the Merchant Navy, sailing on container ships and platform supply vessels. Winter in the North Sea can be a little bumpy, especially for somebody who gets seasick, so I decided it was time to move on and pursue something that really interested me: web design. I’ve been building and running websites for around three years now, and it’s something I’m genuinely passionate about.
There’s a lot going on at CALA, so this week for me has mostly been about getting to grips with the basics, such as CALA’s values, plans, and structure. There’s a lot to learn, but everyone has been so welcoming and I’m excited about what’s to come.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can go about improving the CALA blog and the CALA website. I can’t guarantee every idea will be implemented, but feedback and suggestions are more than welcome!
That’s it for me for now. Do get in touch if there’s anything I can help with. I’ll be posting frequent updates here on the blog and on social media, so make sure you check back regularly 🙂
