We will be hosting our annual conference in Inverness on Thursday 28th September, 2017. We have chosen the theme of ‘Workforce Development’ as a highly topical, national focus as we work with partners to build capacity to meet the forthcoming increase in quality flexible early learning and childcare by 2020, when the Scottish Government will offer 1140 hours of funded ELC for all three and four year olds and eligible 2 year olds in Scotland.

We are delighted to confirm that this year’s keynote speaker will be James Hempsall OBE. James is a National Support Director for the Department of Education’s ‘Achieving Two Year Olds’ (A2YO) and has worked in a wide variety of roles in the childcare sector for over 25 years, including working at strategic and operational level with local authorities across England to support implementation of government childcare policy.

In his keynote speech James will tell us about the latest developments and ongoing expansion in Early Learning and Childcare and share examples from a variety of types of provision across the country to help inform our thinking and forward planning to implement ‘Blueprint for 2020: Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare in Scotland’.
