Being aware of Welfare Reform and poverty in Scotland
Following the CALA Senior Team meeting on Friday 10th October 2014, David Stewart, Welfare Reform Business Advisor for Highlands, Islands and Moray, gave a short update on Welfare Reform. As well as understanding the changes that are happening, with reference to Universal Credit, the main message for CALA, as an employer, was that poverty is on the increase. We can help make a difference by being aware of the inequalities and work with young people, for example, to help them gain skills and experience, or build on our employer supported volunteering projects.
This humorous, short video, with a serious message, was shown was shown at the presentation and we wanted to share it with our staff, members and other CALA supporters.
