An exciting day for Kilmallie Playgroup manager, Carole!

I just wanted to share my exciting day with you all. Apart from being the manager at Kilmallie Playgroup and Daycare, I volunteer and coach gymnastics, tennis and trampolining for Highlife Highlands and I was nominated by my active schools co-ordinator to carry the Queen’s Baton in Fort William. Can you believe my excitement when I got an e-mail to say I had been successfully chosen?

This was such a memorable, emotional day that will stay with me forever. Lots of children – past and present from playgroup and the sports clubs – turned out to watch. Even the Fort William rain could not dampen our spirits.

It was a magical day and I was overwhelmed that people thought so much of me to nominate me – it was such an honour. The children were fantastic and made the day; the baton itself was absolutely beautiful and a mix of traditional and modern methods of craft work. It was very interesting to hear how the baton was made and the escorts were very knowledgeable.

The children had been learning about the countries and sports involved in the Commonwealth Games so for them to actually see and be involved in the day had such a positive impact on their understanding.

Hope you enjoy the slideshow below!
