OUT OF SCHOOL CARE SENIOR PLAYWORKER
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Playworker will have day-to-day responsibility for Playworkers within the site and will be accountable to their Centre Practice Manager
Job Purpose: to support and maintain a well-organised, safe, fun and stimulating environment which will meet the needs of children and their families. This will be in accordance with the policies, quality assurance guidelines and codes of practice adopted by CALA.
Leadership & Teamwork
Supervise and support the staff team ensuring a high quality service is being delivered. Ensure a positive role model is portrayed at all times.
Communicate effectively with all staff in a positive manner which will support and promote their confidence and competence. Ensure that the staff are aware of and understand their responsibilities on a day to day basis and are carrying these out in a professional and effective manner.
Contribute to support & supervision meetings in consultation with staff and Centre Practice Manager.
Meet annually with the CPM for formal staff review and mutually agree a training plan for the year ahead.
Contribute to the evaluation of the service in consultation with parents, children and the staff team. Adhere to action plans to improve the service.
Attend meetings and relevant training as mutually agreed with your Centre Practice Manager.
Promoting Positive Relationships
Ensure that a courteous and approachable manner is displayed at all times to parents, children and the staff team to maintain positive relationships.
Ensure that parents, children and the staff team are receiving appropriate information in line with organisational procedures and good practice.
Ensure that parents, children and staff are consulted for their ideas and are valued for their contributions.
Health & Safety
Ensure that the parents, children and staff team are familiar with and adhere to the relevant policies and procedures that support the safe running of the club.
Ensure that care is taken to collect children from the school on time with relevant identification visible.
Ensure that a healthy snack is purchased and offered to the children. Encourage the children to participate in the preparation of the snack provision.
The Play Environment
Ensure that the staff team are adhering to the relevant planning, policies and procedures that support the quality of play within the club.
Ensure that children have the opportunity to play in a self-directed way and the staff team interact with them in a way which supports and promotes children’s confidence and individual abilities.
Artwork should be displayed (where possible) and changed regularly.
Administration
Ensure that the staff and parents are aware of the requirements for the registration, booking and cancellation procedure for children.
Make sure that relevant information is being passed to the Dingwall office and the Centre Practice Manager as requested.
Ensure that the daily paperwork is being completed: Safety checklists; attendance registers; daily logs etc.
Ensure:
- payment registers are clear, accurate and up-to-date.
- invoices and receipts are issued in a clear, accurate and timely manner.
- petty cash is reconciled.
